➸ MOVING DAY

Freitag, 2. Dezember 2016

FINALLY! This day has come!! In the post "How to Nuremberg: secret garden in St. Johanni" I’ve already mentioned that Nuremberg and I are not getting along very well. I’ve really tried to make it work. However, I give up. After 2 years of trying I reached a point where I am not happy at all, I am lonely and have very strong negative feelings about this city. My marks in school have dropped and one of the reasons is that I am not feeling comfortable here. Therefore, I’ve decided to move in with my boyfriend (how exciting???) and finish my studies from there. I have to come back to Nuremberg about ones a month for exams or meetings, but that’s alright.
So GOOD BYE Nuremberg and HELLO Tübingen. I am so looking forward to be closed to my friends again and to live in a Bundesland (state) where the shops are open until 10pm or later!

➸ Hotel Story time: Becoming a hotel manager in Rome

Montag, 14. November 2016

Did you ever dream about becoming a hotel manager?  Personally, I never did. But on a weird evening in Rome, my friend and me managed a little hotel for about an hour. How did that happen? Yep, this is a really good question!
Firstly, I have to say that this was a top rated hotel on booking.com and there were some language issues involved. When we arrived the manager said that he wanted to give us a better room, but it wasn't ready. So he asked us if we could watch the desk and hand over the keys to other customers. I am not exactly sure if he even told us to pick up the phone, like I said there were some language issues. So here we were in a hotel somewhere in Rome, sitting at the other side of the check-in desk. After the manager disappeared with the elevator upstairs we looked at each other and couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes. The situation was so unreal. And yes other hotel guests came in to pick up their keys.

But this whole thing got even weirder, when the man came back and asked if one of us could come with him upstairs to look at the room. I volunteered knowing that my friend had 911 on speed dial. Upstairs he showed me the room, not finished at all. He was so overstrained by getting this room ready that I told him just to clean the bathroom and to leave some fresh sheets so i could do the bed by myself. I had the feeling that he was so glad that someone told him what to do, because he knew that he just produced chaos. So he did what I told him and I went downstairs to my very worried friend. Half an hour later we left our place behind the check-in desk and moved to our room.

I can say this was one of the weirdest hotel experiences ever. At least we had an rooftop balcony with a stunning view over the city. After we checked out he kindly asked us to write a top review on booking.com, because he got us a better room!
yeeeeah, sure.
So after all we knew why this hotel was top-rated!

➸ My updated travel bucket list

Montag, 24. Oktober 2016
A year ago I posted two blog posts about what places I really wanted to visit in the future. Unfortunately, they’ were written in German, if you’re interested anyway the first part you will find here and the second here.

But let’s have a little recap! What was on my list?

Great Wall of China
Cape Town
Harry Potter World
Maine
Oslo
Glastonbury Festival
Death Valley
Salt Desert in Bolivia
Greece
Niagara Falls
Scottland
Nashville
Whale Watching
Change of guards at the Buckingham Palace
Chicago
The equator
Sequoias in California
San Diego
Polar lights
New Zealand
Venice, Italy
Burning Man Festival
Harbour Bridge, Hamburg
Indian Summer in New England
Machu Picchu
Mount Rushmore
Rio de Janeiro
Yellow Stone National Park
Spring with cherry blossom in Japan

A year later I can definitely tick off a few places of my list:
Last year we’ve been to London and visited the Harry Potter Studios and saw the change of guards at the Buckingham Palace. The Harry Potter Studios were amazing, the guard change something fun, but not that spectacular.

And of course I can tick off “Indian Summer in New England” and “Maine” also. Fell in love and will come back. No doubts.

So do I want to add some new destinations to my must-see-list? It’s just one place, but YES! Iceland is on top of my list at the moment. I really like to go next year J.
So, but now I wanna know what’s your favorite destination on your travel bucket list, you're dying to see?

➸ Hello from Boston

Freitag, 30. September 2016
Dear New York,
I have to tell you something: I've kind of cheated on you. Today I fell in love, I fell in love with Boston. But you know, some people say it's possible to have two loves at the same time - and I really think we could make this work. You're the busy one, going with the flow and are always up to date. Boston is more chilled and lives a little bit in the past centuries. You both offer very different things. I really can't stand the charm of this city. It attracts you with the amazing town houses and stunning facades, with the very kind and friendly people, who love their hometown, with a lot of good local food and with the feeling to be at home, even when you're at the other side of the ocean.  I really hope you understand that I couldn't resist.

Hello and welcome back!

Montag, 5. September 2016

Oh, something changed? YES!
I decided to blog from now on in this lovely language called English! Because I am not in school anymore I rarely get the chance to write something in English. But I still want to improve my language skills, especially in the writing division – that has always been my weak spot. Unfortunately, my English isn’t perfect. I will try my very best.

But some other things are new, too. Saw the new categories? In “A postcard from” I will share my travel experiences and reviews with you. In “the story department” you will find some funny stories about my journeys around the globe. And I think the category “useful stuff” explains itself.

Aaaand at last but not least, there will be coming new posts coming your way from Monday to Friday. On Wednesday we will have a “Video Wednesday”. I love making Videos, so why not combine this passion with my excitement for travel.

Enough with the blabla! Feel free to comment, share or/and follow me on insta/twitter/YouTube. Hope to see you tomorrow.
